Little Rock - Part 3

We spent our last day in Little Rock just sauntering around the downtown area. Since this is Saturday there has to be a Farmer's Market, right! And it's a pretty good one too. There were people hawking all sorts of paraphernalia under those little tents.

It was dang near a flea market.

When we turned the corner, we found we had really gotten to the meat vegetable & potatoes part of the market. There were some dazzling displays of veggies. All sorts of greens and onions.

Gorgeous fruit.

Huge watermelon. The red bags in the back contain green beans.

There was handcrafted cypress furniture and knick-knacks.

Big smiles.

Live music!

This vendor was selling strawberries as fast as he could put them out.

Looked good, but our northwest berries are better.

This is a railroad bridge that has been converted to a pedestrian walkway across the river.

They are still working on this part of the river front.

RiverFest is next weekend, so they're working hard to complete it.

The brick colored building is one of several Peabody Hotels around the U.S. that have the famous Peabody Ducks that march to the lobby fountain each day from their penthouse suite. It is an extravaganza that includes a Duck Master, the elevator, and a red carpet. Watch here on YouTube.

The ducks get to relax all afternoon, paddle around, and have their pictures taken.

We walked all the way to the North Little Rock side and back.

About like crossing the Willamette. The river is very muddy after all the rain.

The electric trolley will even take you over to North Little Rock.

We put a down payment on a vacation home!

We called it quits about 2:30. Stopped at this cute little downtown diner. When we walked in it was packed with families, and the noise level was at 100 decibels. In about ten minutes everyone had left, and we enjoyed a quiet lunch. We decided it was time to go sit by the pool, after all it was about 90 degrees by then. We went back to the hotel, grabbed our books, and went to sit in the outdoor lounge area. Great choice! The people watching was extraordinary. Only read about one chapter.
